CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- On Tuesday, the Charlottesville Police Department made an effort to bring the community together with a short walk in town.
The CPD posted on Facebook about the event, encouraging everyone to come say hello and get to know the officers serving the community.
The walk took place at the Downtown Mall around lunchtime.
"It's a way to really reach and for the city to extend its hands that they may not really be able to come down to City Hall because of parking or whatever, so we're taking it to them," said Charlottesville Mayor Juandiego Wade.
