ORANGE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Officials in Orange County are addressing several recent social media threats that have been circulating on TikTok.

Orange County Public Schools and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office have been working together to investigate the social media threats.

They have determined that the threats are aimed at a list of schools in Georgia, including two with names similar to schools in Orange County.

Officials ask students and parents to not share social media posts containing any kind of threats.

Every time such a post is shared, it becomes harder to trace it back to its origin, and each threat must be investigated by law enforcement.

Orange County officials hope that by sharing information regarding this situation, the community can come together and debunk rumors.
