CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Members of the UVA football team made a special stop Friday on their way to Wake Forest for their first away game of the season.
Students at Trailblazer, formerly Venable, Elementary School lined the halls to cheer on the Cavaliers. They dressed in blue and orange and made signs to support the team.
“They’ve always been really good people, always working their butts off for this place. I’m just really happy that they’re here. My godbrother is on the UVA baseball team, so I know what it feels like to have really good friends on the team,” fourth grader George Kingdon said.
“It was great to see all the kids go out and support them. They support us, so we had to give it back. We go out and volunteer in the elementary schools, so it’s good to see their faces smiling,” senior safety Micah Gaffney said.
The Cavaliers will play Wake Forest Saturday in Winston-Salem at 7 p.m.
