UPDATE: Arrington Mountain Road reopened around 4 p.m.

However, residents will continue to see a large law enforcement presence in the area.

The Madison County Sheriff's Office says there is no threat to the community.

MADISON COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Madison County Sheriff’s Office says a road has been shut down due to an ongoing investigation.

There is a large law enforcement presences in the 200 block of Arrington Mountain Road in the northern part of the county.

At this time, it is not known how long the road will be closed.

Drivers are encouraged to use caution in the area and take alternate routes if possible.

There is currently no information regarding what kind of investigation is underway.
